These Cruise Ship Waterslides Are For Serious Adventurers

Cruise vacations are designed for people who crave at least a little adventure. After all, you’re spending your money to vacation on the ocean and visit exotic destinations, right?  The good news is that cruise ships offer up something for every level of adventurer, from casinos and pools to rock walls and surfing simulators. A few ships have even installed waterslides for the serious adventure-seekers, but some of those slides are more impressive than others. If waterslides are must-have amenities on board your potential cruise ships, check out our list of some of the most impressive slides on the seas.

Here’s the best part, to experience the best cruise ship waterslides, you only have to book a cruise on one vessel.

Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas is the reigning king when it comes to awesome waterslides on board cruise ships. In fact, all of the best onboard waterslides can be found on this single vessel. The Allure of the Seas is currently finishing up a series of renovations that top $165 million. Part of that juicy price tag includes the addition of what the company calls the “Ultimate Abyss.”  The dark tube slides will be 10 stories tall!  At 216 feet tall, it will be the tallest waterslide on any cruise ship on the ocean.

In addition to gut-wrenching, 13-second plummet, the Ultimate Abyss will also feature multiple spirals and a G-force of 1.46.

If all that adventure sounds like it might be a little too intense, the Allure of the Seas will also offer three additional slides that aren’t quite as crazy. Dubbed “The Perfect Storm” by Royal Caribbean, the three slides are called Cyclone, Typhoon, and Supercell.

In addition, the newly renovated ship will also have a redesigned pool deck, bars, and better seating and lounge areas on board the ship.  There will also be a new kids’ area, featuring water cannons and buckets designed to dump massive amounts of water on your little ones while you relax poolside with a cold drink.

For even more adventure, you can head inside the ship to experience some glow-in-the-dark laser tag and an escape room.

Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas is expected to set sail beginning next May.
